Dealership Forgot to Install Engine Cover

Yesterday I was installing my puddle lights and decided to pop the hood and check the engine. I immediately noticed my engine cover was gone. The last time I took my car for service was at the dealership. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm pretty annoyed by this. On the plus side my puddle lights look great.

Did they give it back to you?

Maybe they'll void your warranty for removing the cover!
Makes you wonder what else they forgot...

I just figured it out on Sunday. I'll call them this week and see if I can get it back.

Same thing happened to me once, but I noticed before I left the dealer. They were incredibly sorry and very happy that I noticed it. Of course, I have left it myself at a gas station once and at my mom's house twice. It is a pretty easy thing to do.

Maybe it should be attached with a chain or something Or the check engine light will come on if you leave it off, like the gas cap or something.

Yeh, Mine was in for service, MOT and oil cooler pipework recall. I popped the hood when I got home to look at the new oil cooler pipework and was thinking....what the hell is it thats different about my engine. Took me a few moments to realise, wait a minute.....I can see the engine, thats no right! haha! The tech was a bit gutted. He said he had another RX8 in the next again day, noticed the engine cover lying on the workbench n thought can't remember taking that off yet. Didn't call though, I had to call them.

Happened to me once at my dealership. Just get in the habit of checking behind them before you leave

Funny story... I took my engine cover off ages ago (I'm seriously thinking about hanging it on a wall in my apartment). I had to have my seat replaced and it took my dealership 3 days (hooray warranty work!). When I checked my oil level later that week, what did I find but an engine cover! I guess they hadn't noticed that I didn't have one when I came in, then panicked and put one of the covers on from one of the 8's on the lot outside. It was really dirty.

I stopped by on the way home from work and returned it to them. The shop manager had a good laugh.

Fremont Ford and Mazda. They have been great so far. When my transmission explodes or my cat clogs we'll find out just how good they are
