Dealer fixed my cycling A/C (I hope)
Had my car in for its first free 5,000 mile service. Also had oil
pan replaced as I had oil light come on @ 80mph with dipstick at 2/3 full. Asked dealer to check A/C as compressor clutch would cycle off before vent temperature was cold. This is copy of work
order from dealership. Havent got to test the repair fully as it is only 75 today here. At least tech service nows about the problem as has a part to repair it. Poor A/C performance has been my only complaint with this fabulous car. :D
P.S. Was given info sheet on amplifier which states that if vehicle battery goes dead or is changed out. Amplifier will have to be reprogramed.

Thanks for this important info. It is always better if another dealer has documented info on a repair.
I will be taking my car in sooon, and will ask the service department to see if this will work on the problem..Is your AC better now? Any problems from this re-program?

Hello Everyone,
This is really interesting news. I have been waiting for a fix on the AC problem and have been told by Mazda that I would be notified when a fix is found. Would like to find out if anyone has been to the dealer with this information and if any fix was actually done.

Just got my car back from the dealer for my 20K mile check. Whatta car; like new again! Got the M reflash and will start tracking mileage again. The car drives great -- smooth and powerful, and I also got my a/c upgraded. I brought along a copy of this TSB and they swapped out my a/c amplifier just like they were supposed to.
Tell you what, I have suffered through two summers with cycling a/c, going cool and warm. Now, it is just damn COLD! Yeah baby! I can't freakin' believe it. If you are unhappy with your a/c performance, print this TSB out and get yer pretty lil bee-hind to your nearest dealer. The difference is phenomenal; like my forearm was almost numb from the cold, cold air blowing on it.
For all those who never had a problem with a/c, now I know what you were talking about. Very awesome!

We replaced my friend's AC amplifier and his A/C blows much colder, which really helps here in Austin since it is so humid. I noticed that some of the 8's that we have had for awhile do not blow as cold as the ones that have had this fix.

Just got mine done today, and boy is it ice cold! I went through two summers with luke warm cycling a/c but today for the very first time it was downright chilly in my '8. Way to go!

Had the new A/C amp installed in July and it's performing as well as my wife's Olds Silhouette's unit ( GM A/C and auto trans rule, imho).

after the TSB mine gets cold within 30secs of startup and even in 90 plus whether...put it on face blown setting, inner-air, all the way up cold (and of course ac on) and you will cool down the car with in seconds...BRRRRRR

i got the new amplifier tuesday and mine gets cold super fast now. with my new unit you can not turn on the ac with fresh air selected. as soon as you select ac it switches to recirc and if you switch it back to fresh air it turns the ac off.

Just had my ac amplifier replaced. Last night it was pretty cold out. We had the heater running. Then, I smelled a burning smell. I knew it was coming from my car when we got out in the garage. The burning smell was strong. Anyone else experience this when they got ther AC amplifier replaced?
