Dealer Allocation

I was told by my dealer that he got a fax today with all the pre-order info. Anyway, when they went through it, it stated that on the first pre-order each dealership would only be given one car.

Has anyone else heard of this from thier dealer?

That sounds like a crock.. it's just so they say "we are only getting one, how much over MSRP you wanna pay?"

But who cares.... just call other dealers and they will give you different stories. Then either confront the first dealer with that information or don't let them have your business.

Actually, they said they were not going to charge over MSRP, also have it in writing. Another thing is that he told me the dealerships were only getting one the first allocation even though I am second on the list so I won't get into the first pre-order. I don't believe there would be any motive for him to do that other than to state what he was told. I have been in to this dealership so many times over the past 2 years talking about the RX-8 that the guy knows me decently well and I don't believe he would out right lie to me. Especially since he has asked me to call him if I when I find out new information about the release of it.

My dealer said that they were allocated 4 cars for the first pre-order and that each dealer gets an allocation based on their sales volume.

Ayep. Mazda South is consistently the 2nd- or 3rd-highest volume dealer in the nation. They're getting an initial allocation of 12.

One dealer which is supposed to be fairly big didn't tell me what his allocation was, but pretty much said I would get in the first allocation (I'm second on their list). Problem is that they won't commit to MSRP.

I then called another dealer and said he would give me pricing when they got their pricing confirmed (isn't MSRP already confirmed for all the dealers?!?) but he also said that they are only getting 1. I think it might be possible since this dealer seems considerably smaller.

I'm not really sure what to do.... I could get the car from the first dealer, but they won't commit to a price. I could get lucky and they charge msrp, but I might end up either paying more or passing on it and waiting months more for the car.

I seen the allocation sheet for my dealer: Showcase Mazda they are getting 4 in the first shipment but the "so called" first allocation number was a total of 17. They will be getting, like I said 4 then 7 and then 6 to finish up the first allocation which is spread over an estimated range of June/August for the first order and August/September, and September/october for the rest. That is the best info they have for now direct from Mazda, I read the e-mails right off the computer.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I'm one of the first four!!
Black on blk/red with the full boat of options.

Sweet!! I thought I would throw it in for now and the Sales Manager said I could just take it off if I change my mind within the next few weeks, also if there is any sign that it will hold up delivery as boowana said in another thread it is getting dropped faster than a dress on prom night.

I went to Irvine Mazda tonight, and they said they're getting 8 of them for their first shipment. So far, I'm only the second person to place an order there, so there are 6 more up for grabs! :D
