I've heard a fair number of rattles in the 8's I've test driven.

However I've yet to find a sports car or even a sporty car that doesn't have rattles, no matter the price. Porsche Boxster, 911 C4S, BMW M3, Audi TT and S4, they all have a fair number of interior rattles, more so than most generic American rental cars I've spent time in.

I'm not sure if it's just poor interior trim quality or the sport supensions that are to blame, or perhaps both.

The best way to try and find out what your future holds is to see if your dealer has a used or demo RX-8 you can drive; generally that will tell you what the interior will be like after some aging as well...

Should be an easy fix....
There's a thread around here somewhere that suggests loosening the mounting bolts, then re-tightening. My driver's seat squeaked BAD at around 3,000 miles, so I had the dealer do this... and it's been fine ever since.

Every now and then, like maybe once every two weeks in the summer, the sunroof (or that area) would rattle badly for a few miles... then go away. I've never tracked it down, as it doesn't happen long enough.

My dash sorta "buzzed" for a few days a couple weeks ago. Oddest thing. It went way and hasn't returned.

8,000 miles now, and it's been like 20-30 degrees the last few mornings... and at the moment, it's rattle-free.

Totally rattle-free for over a year and 12,000 miles, but then in the last two days the left rear door (I think) is starting to creak sometimes in corners. Otherwise it's tight as a drum.

2200 miles. My mirror rattles but since it's now a case for electronics, not just a simple mirror, I guess it's inevitable. I give it a squeeze and it stops. The seats creak a bit during turns. I thought it was a door rattle until I wiggled my butt and got the noise. That I only hear at low speeds with the stereo off. And, no, my butt doesn't make the same noise in other cars. I had a new rattle a few days ago but it cleared when I took my mini mag light and tire gauge out of the glove box!
