Crackling noise in the front at high RPM's

I never noticed this noise, until I was the passenger in my car (finally let the wife drive) -- but at higher RPM's (say 6000+) there is a pretty loud crackling/popping noise coming from the engine area, but mainly around the passenger side. Almost sounds like it is coming from the storage compartment there in front of your legs, but definitely isn't from there.

Anyone else heard this noise or know what it could be? The Mazda dealership just said it was from going at those "high RPMs" -- don't they know I drive in that zone a lot during the day?

dealer says its normal and it will go away one day lol, what it is, its your heater coils that rush air past it, i know it sounds bad but its really normal with the 06 models sorry bud but that cant be fixed, the only thing you can do is deal with it or just get a new rx8 and test it out before you buy it lol

What year is your rx8? I know there is a pretty common 09+ problem referred to as Marbles in a can, is this what your talking about?

Edit- Just try doing a search for MIAC and browse, there are multiple threads that seem very similar to this one
