Crack in Windsheild..
I was just driving down the highway today...It is rather bumpy..I take a look over to my right and there it is..a nice lil backwards L shaped crack on the passenger side of my windsheild..I figure it had to be from the bumps on the road.. Now for my question, is this covered by the warranty?.. If not, how much am I lookin at in repair?..Thanks for the help.
Edit: From what I can see it was caused only by stress, there are no idications of any road debris hitting the windsheild.

no luck with the warranty folks, and the windshield is probably not available from anyone but the dealer. I have already had mine replaced once, it wasn't any fun for me or my wallet.

mine was just replaced and was covered by my insurance. I would hope you would spring the extra $1 a month on full glass coverage on a brand-spanking new car....
RIGHT?
RIGHT?

If you have state farm ins. it is covered w/ out a deductible. (my wife had two replaced last year on her Toyota) Others have to have a rider for coverage.. Bummer!

I wish Texas would pass a similar law - I had three windshields in the Miata in 4 years.....

Wut da F Y'all lookin' @!
Okay, I have some experience with this. I also had a crack appear in my windshield. It appeared on the passenger side and was about 1 foot long. The replacement of my windshield was covered under warranty. The reason it was covered under warranty was that there were no chips from rocks to be found in the windshield yet there was this crack which stretched from the seal towards the center. One of the techs from the service department felt along the crack to see if he could feel any chips that weren't visible and he could not locate one. This basically meant either the windshield cracked from a small crack that was there previous to it being placed in the car or the vast changes in temperature in this particular area a few months back caused it. What it works out to is have them prove that it was a rock. If they cant then you may have a valid warranty claim.

*sigh*
I just went out to my car and saw this odd looking dust around the stereo (very glinty). Looking for what the problem was, I found right at the edge of the windshield at the top a large pock of missing glass. Almost as if you got hit with a rock, but it didnt happen on the road, for sure, and there is not a mark on the outside of the glass. This is along the top black edge of the glass (BTW, it's black glass, not some sort of sticker).
ARGH. I'm gonna have to go by the dealer early tomorrow and see what they say. It BETER be under warranty.

I had a similar problem recently. A small, star shaped crack appeared right behind my rear view mirror. I don't recall hearing a rock hit the windshield. Within about two days, the crack has spread so that two lines ran to the top of the windshield and another went about two feet across the driver's side. I had it replaced without thinking it might be a warranty issue. Had to pay $200 deductible with State Farm (Georgia). They told me they would repair for free but the deductible applied if the windshield had to be replaced.

Cant you get little cracks filled in at a place like Apple Auto glass? they do stuff like that.
Shouldn't cost much at all, all I know is to make sure you fix it before the crack gets bigger.
cheers

I'm taking mine in tomorrow. It should be under warranty. I parked it in the garage at work (no crack) and when I got off work I noticed a line running from the seam at the passenger side and traveling towards the middle for about 10-12 inches. From inside my car it looked like a 1/8 inch ribbon was laid on top of the windshield. It did not look like a crack, it looked like a rub mark, or like someone had took a white grease pencil to it. When I got home I checked from outside the car and it is definately a crack. I'll post again tomorrow after the dealer looks at it.
