coolant light coming on

I've searched the archives and found no mention of this...
A few times, I've started my RX8 and the low coolant light
has come on. The light stays on for a few minutes and then
goes off when the car warms up. This only has occurred on
cold starts. Then, after the light goes off, it does not come
on for the rest of that trip. The coolant level appears fine.

Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Yeah I had that happen to me once. I checked the level, and it was right under the "FULL" line. I topped it off and it went away.

It seems like the RX8 has VERY sensitive indicators.

the coolant light coming on reminds me of my FD. The light would come on, then go away the rest of the trip. When i had a larger radiator put in, i had to constantly top it off with some water for a few days, until the air bubbles bled out. It may be that.

Mine has started doing this as well. Occasionally, right after a cold start, when ambient temperatures are below freezing, the low coolant indicator light will come on. After about 1 minute, it will turn off. I guess I'll add a little coolant, even though the level does look full (or very nearly so).

Same thing happened to me a couple months ago. Topped it off, and it hasn't come on since...

when the coolat light come son there is only one thing to do- add coolant. it may look like its full but the sensor is correct that its not. you wouldnt believe how many times in the last 3 years someone didnt believe me- but then added a little and the light went off.
