Premix Oil Question

Does the oil have to be TCW-3 rated or any 2 stroke oil meant for motorcycles work?.

The reason I ask is since TCW-3 is meant for marine use and the 2stroke oil is meant for motor cycles. And I would think that motorcycles would be the better choice over boats. Let me know your thoughts.

I'm sure any 2-stroke oil will work but I cant see putting cheap oil in our engines. I use only 2-stroke racing oils. Go cart or dirt bike racing oils.

You didn't get my question I wanted to know if there is a difference betn TCw-3 meant for 2 stroke Marine use and the 2 Stroke oils meant for bikes, and if yes which is better.

The one I tried is Valvoline 2 Stroke meant for bikes and it was $3.50 for 16fl oz bottle.

There are people out there using both types with no issues. The nice thing about 2 stroke oils is that they are all designed to mix with gasoline and burn well.

Tcw-3.....

For long term use with a catalytic convertor in place, the TCW3 (boat oil) is NOT suitable.

The metallic "ashless" additive package these use will ruin the cat eventually, no motor that specifies TCW-3 uses a catalyst.

Bike/snowmobile/air cooled "TC" rated stuff is safer, and lubricates better. Even certain water craft specify "no tcw-3 oil".

The emphasis for boat oil is on being bio-degradable.
