I agree a vert 8 is FAIL but, why would it be heavier and slower? The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera lost weight from it's hard top counterpart and got faster. Also, the Aston Martin DB9 convertible did the same. I know, none of these cars are in the league of the 8 but not all verts are slower and heavier than the hardtop versions. 2cents.

This car - for the general car person (not the autocrosser) is more than adequate for most applications. the one thing missing is a rag top.
