I know how mine got scratched. I put one of those 'christmas tree" things looped into the hand brake. It would lay directly on the silver trim. 1 month layer, the chemicals on the air freshner it has EATEN through the paint and maybe a tiny bit of plastic. Looks salvageable, so I'm gonna try to remove it and do a paint job.

Thanks for all the help. I'm gonna try to remove the piece this saturday and do a high gloss copper red paint job. Cross your fingers for me.

not too hard a job just some screws along the inside. just make sure when you lay it down upsidedown use a blankt or some thing

Does anyone know the paint code/color of silver used on the pieces? I am going to try to repaint mine, but only need to do the front strips, and would like to have them match

No, but once you have the front off, removing the rears isn't much more work. Just scuff everything and paint them together with whatever you can find that's close. Minimal additional effort and no question about color match.

My car is going into the body shop in two days I might try to ask them to paint those trim pieces a really high gloss black I think it would look really good.
