Question Considering Purchase

Hi all.

So im considering the purchase of an RX8. I love the car alot, however im still doing research before i commit. Upon looking through the forums im seeing alot about premature engine failure and something about flooding if you dont rev the engine before shut off.

If anyone could enlitghten me as to the details of this and anything else I should know it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Sigh.

Let me find what I've typed before....though if you want, do a search on my posts. I do alot of big posts for newbies.

Quick answer is: Nothing to fear as long as you research.

Try this thread first. https://www.rx8club.com/purchasing-financing-insurance-56/oh-temptation-196565/ , though it doesn't specifically address flooding or engine failure, and is targeted to a fairly intelligent teenager. I'm looking for my other ones.

This is awesome. Thankyou very much.

I have saved quite a sum for this car over the past year. It will be my second vehicle as I just sold my last and moved to Ontario. I babied my first even if it was a pos. All the regular maintenance (probably a bit more than i should have), cleaned it inside and out every weekend, etc etc. That car was my tool for self teaching mechanics. I know the basics and am going to school next year for Auto Tech. Anything I dont know I research as best I can through forums.

Thanks for taking the time to give me the links and help me out. Everything I read has been super helpful. Especially clearing up my worry of flooding seeing as I saw alot about it.

That thread says it's for the 8th. Did that change? I could for sure be in the area, assuming no one minds an abundance of inquistive questions. That way I could also get first hand advice and a good look at the car.
