considering 40th Anniv 8 (semi long)
so right now i have a 2004GT, i took my car into the dealership to get some warranty work done(go figure). well as i am about to leave i see in the showroom that they have te 2008 40th anniv. addition. so i sit and we talk about it and start the wheeling and dealing and i leave and tell them i want to think about it. so they call me this morning and tell me that they will give me $12.5k for my trade in ($500 off KBB, not bad) plus they will give me the app. pckg. for $800 (aero's, splash, everything). this is ontop of the $30k + fees. i don't really need it but it would be awesome to have. i am starting to lean toward waiting till the debut of the new RX because i think that will drop the price even more. what do you guys think?

The next RX is a 2 - 3 years away yet (we believe). By the sounds of your words "I don't really need it" means you don't need it. If you like it, and you have the capacity to buy it...then do it...your choice....

is the new face lifted one being revealed in a week?
any idea how long until THOSE would hit dealers?
why don't you do this:
instead of buying a newer STOCK, RX8, why not spend about 3-5k on mods and put exhaust, intake, flywheel, coilovers, and make your 2004 into a true track monster.
i'm looking at new vs used RX8s, and i'm starting to really lean toward used due to how BAD the depreciation is. they want 30k+ for the new GTs, and you can find really low mileage 04-05s in the high teens. i really think with a lot of looking, and negotiating, I could find a low mileage 04 GT for $15k flat.
I've debated about trying to con some dealership into selling me the mazdaspeed mods and cutting me a STEAL/deal on labor if I buy their used car.
$5 says I could negotiate a purchase of a used car along with super cheap pricing on the MS parts/install - and just wrap it all up in financing.
i could walk out the door wiht a low mileage 04 with coilovers, flywheel, intake/exhuast, sway bars...etc... for $20k. now THAT would be the ULTIMATE canyon carver.
so - to your question - mod it. you will pay less $$ and get MORE performance.
of course new cars are nice in their own right. everything is all tight/new/pretty.

well i just heard back from the dealer and they are rebuilding 2nd gear and then they are going to replace the waterpump also. maybe i'll just stick with it and keep modding. i really don't feel like starting back at square one all over again.
