so I know you guys get this question way too much. but I'm thinking of getting an RX-8 I told the dealer the only way I would buy it is if I got a compression test done and they gave me the numbers it was dine at a Mazda dealer yet they still gave only gave me one number per rotor. 1st was 4.7 at 210rpm second 2nd 5.5 at 222rpm. I have looked up before an this seem like failing numbers can any one confirm this for me?

Really mean nothing......but if they are max numbers per rotor they are really low

You should have 3 numbers per rotor and an rpm value so the numbers can be corrected for rpm

I went into a dealership. He connected a meter to the enginen and showed me the reading, it was reading 1.7 to 2. He said the engine was very very clean. Thoughts???

 

What kind of "meter"???

 

1 post above yours is a link to a thread and which post to look in for compression test information. Read that thoroughly. I'm pretty sure that whomever was doing that for you was doing something wrong.

I am doing the math on top of my head, 4.7 @ 210 rpm means fail. period.

 

I saw him connect some kinda meter to the a vaccum port on the engine. He removed the rubber cover and connected the meter that gave a reading.

 

Sorry, but I have no idea what that could be, or any relevance of the numbers you provided.

There is certainly no meter of that description that could possibly give any indication of engine condition.

 

It was a multimeter...hooked to a barosensor/vac sensor thingy that Mazda is using to tell how much engine vac the engine pulls...and therefore the condition, mostly because the dealerships don't have the equipment to do a proper compression tests anymore

That is sucks! The dealerships should have all of the proper equipments to maintain the vehicles they're trying to fix. If some dealerships dont have the proper equipment to handle what needs to be done, then they are failing their customers who depends on them. Those customers will find another place to do their business with.
