Question Compression ratios?

Anybody knows what is the typical compression ratio of an rx-8 rotary engine? How are the rotary engines tested ?

I think its 10:1? or something... and they'd be tested the same way as another car, the guage is screwed into a spark plug hole.

what is the safe level of variance? I read somewhere else that a compression ratio of 7 meant that the engine is dying?

This is just too easy I couldn't pass it up.

the static compression ratio be it 9.4:1 or 10:1 has absolutely no relation to the numbers you get from conducting a compression test with a gauge in the spark plug hole and rolling the motor over with the starter.
