Cobb accessport v2

I'm looking into buying a cobb accessport and looked at one for sale on a site that had the custom calibrations. But I passed by a thread saying they stopped making them, so are they still for sale or are they talking about the v3 not being made any more? Ill post the link later

They are still for sale. Cobb decided not to make the v3 for RX-8's, the v2's are still available. The website you found is the only place to buy them new.

You can also pick them up from tripoint engineering.

Does the one from tripoint have the custom calibration like the other one?

That's a cool find.
I thought Jeff had exclusive rights to sell "new" Cobb AP's for the 8
(not that I care, just interesting)

@the OP
Jeff (aka MazdaManiac) provides the custom tuning service himself.
I don't anything on the Tri-Point site indicating a similar service.

They previously offered remote tuning services for the RX8 for $150. I don't know what it entailed, or how reliable the tunes were. I was planning on purchasing that service from them this spring, but they recently removed it from their website.

You may still be able to email them and ask if they offer it.

Does the Accessport V2 have to be the RX8 one, or could you buy one from Ebay for say a Mazda 6 or other car (it uses an OBD II port?) and then load RX8 software on to it?

Also if you had an upgraded air filter, de-cat and upgraded exhaust, what sort of bhp increase does the Cobb AP provide?

Cheers.

As far as I know, you need to have a RX8 specific Cobb AP.
They are not interchangeable like that.

Results vary. Your biggest gain was likely from removing the catalytic.
A good tune might get you 10 - 20 whp ish

You'll get all sorts of varied information from people, there are a lot of factors that play in to what you can get.
