Coasting & Redlining in an AT {Your Thoughts}

Searching only revealed results for the older version RX8 {04, 05 etc..}, So this is for the 07 RX8 AT. You MT guys can sit on the sideline for this one.

COASTING:

Because I drive 70+ highway miles a day, I've gotten in the habit of bringing the car up to speed and coasting until its necessary to give it some more gas. Works wonders when the traffic is heavy.

1. Any thoughts positive or negative on driving the "8" this way ?????

REDLINING:

I drive normal up to the point where I have a straight or clear lane, then I open her up for some speed but that's when I look at the digits and I'm doing 90ish and I'm only at +/- 3K rpms ............ Believe me, it ain't for the lack of trying, but at this rate I will be well over 100MPH before I can redline the car.

How in the hell do you redline an AT ???

Your thoughts

P.S. I am loving this car .............. TOTALLY .....
And for those who state that the 07 RX8 is slow ........... You're completely out of your mind ............. No Way!!!! And I'm in an AT.

Downshift buddy

I have an '05, and I love my 2nd and third gear! Fourth is for cruising and keeping the revs low for 'fuel economy'.

Cheers

What? Really??? At 90 mph in 6th gear (MT) I am at 4,500 RPM. Surprising it's that much lower in an AT......

I'll have my girl take a picture while I'm driving over the weekend, to show the evidence. I wouldn't dare take a picture alone .............. I'm not crashing a brand new 8, just for a picture.

If your model is like my 04 the Auto's tranny pc is one of those annoying self learning types. Yes I do know you have the 6sp tranny but I believe the same type of software is controling the shifts. What I did before I went to using the Trip/Sport mode full time is at a stop I'd just go WOT and first gear would usualy Redline. My cars first gear redlines at 45mph and yours is most likely less so it should be more do able on a side street or even from a stop light. But as others have stated just slap it in Trip/Sport mode and have some damn fun!!
