Just curious to know if you guys have bought the Clutch Pedal Reinforcement Bracket or not.

Mine creeks occasionally, but I'm wonder if this means that my bracket will necessarily fail.

The weakness in the pedal assembly is because of the welds. Have the pedal re-welded and it will solve the issue.

I would suggest getting this done even if you are not having any issues with the pedal.

 

There are three possible reasons for a creak:

1. About to fail
2. Cut switch
3. Needs lubrication

I was on the verge of ordering one, but my inner cheapskate took over. Still have a year of B to B left. I figure that by the time that's up NHTSA will have ordered a recall and money on the bracket would be wasted. Also not keen on drilling a hole in my original pedal assembly.

Mine squeaks VERY rarely, so I am just chalking it up to lube. I have an 07 with less than 20k miles, so I'd have to assume the bracket isn't getting weak. No side to side play, either.

 

What kind of lube and where to apply it?

 

I would use White Lithium Grease since its residue is a bit cleaner and doesn't gunk up like WD-40 or other variants.

 

mine is reinforced and it creaks. It needs to be lubricated.

The sign your peddle is failing is when your clutch starts leaning towards your brake peddle (as the brackets bend).

Hearing a noise isn't going to tell you anything.

 

Not to downplay the failures, but probably because most of them don't fail.

Mine squeaked shortly after my MT swap, so I figured the clutch pedal was weak (it was from a semi-high mile car) and had it rewelded. Put it back in, bastard still squeaks. Put in a new slave and master, lubricated the ball end of the slave. Bastard still squeaks. I must assume it is in the clutch at this point.

The point is, just because the pedal makes a little noise or creak, doesnt mean it is about to fail. Noise and tactile sensation can be transmitted through the pedal from anywhere all the way to the pressureplate.

I agree that it is never a bad idea to reinforce the pedal even if you have no symptoms of failure.

 

I'll take the advice of removing it an getting it welded just in case. This has been a very helpful thread.

 

i voted "No and I don't plan on buying one." seems a little pointless with an automatic

from the sounds of it, if i had a manual, i'd buy one especially if i have wobble on the x-axis.
