Clutch Bracket being paid for by mazda

Yeah I got a check for the ~$130 I spent on a clutch pedal reinforcement. Just included a copy of my payment receipt (itemized). Sent me a check about 3 weeks later, no problems.
Just remember that by signing the reimbursement form, you are agreeing to say you won't hold them liable for ANY problems you have. So its possible if you have any clutch-related problems that would otherwise be covered under warranty, and you've filed this form, they could deny it. A rather unlikely scenario, but just sayin....

Am I screwed?
I've posted in the other clutch problem thread as well, but I'm at 102k miles and wonder if I can still get mines replaced for free? Some of the owners posted yes in that thread but I'm not sure according to the letter.
Thoughts?

That's what it states in the letter.
That's really not that long.

aye and it's better then not getting any reimbursement at all!
I wish Mazda would step up and do this proactively (both the replacement or reimbursement). I'm going to be installing the reinforced bracket and that is coming out of my pocket directly when it should be on Mazda to replace it beforehand. In fact I'm now saving Mazda's *** should I have ever gotten into an accident because of a bracket failure in a sticky situation....

If it does not go according to my wishes, how much am I looking at in terms of footing the bill myself? I assume dealer will charge ridiculously more than a trusted shop, not that I know of any locally. I'm in Houston...

However if you go this route you should buy a reinforced welded OEM pedal from BHR for $275 or buy a bracket reinforced pedal from RaceRoots for $300.
Raceroots: http://raceroots.com/index.php/produ...-assembly.html
BHR: http://blackhaloracing.com/?page_id=...product_id=186
Then from there you could either get your hands dirty and do it yourself or take it to a competent shop and pay them labor.
If you're going to contact MNAO stress to them that you are barely over their mileage limit and on top of that this is safety related. Let them know you've also begun the process of filing a complaint with the NHTSA. Calm and collected but firm.

Well a new OEM pedal is a bit under $200 if I remember correctly and labor shouldn't be more then an hour or two.

So I called local Mazda dealer in Kingwood and told me to bring her in. I've done business with them before in the past and they have treated me well, no complaints. I'll take her tomorrow and see what they say.
Curious, if I order the assembly from Race Roots or the BHR, possible for dealer to install it or am I better off finding a local shop to do it? I don't know of any local shops in Houston that are rx-specific tho..

I could see the dealer installing the BHR pedal as it's an OEM unit with some additional welding but they probably wouldn't want to add something to the assembly such as the RR bracket.
A local shop can do either, no need to be RX specific as installing a clutch pedal on our car really is no different then any other car.

Good luck.
Can I tell if my bracket is cracked if I get under there with a flashlight and look really, really hard? Or would I have to take to the dealer to know for sure??

New Yorker, it's easy to inspect.
look at the thread NYCGPS has up, a few pages in you'll find pics of what to look for.

it takes 10 minutes to remove it (assume you have the right open end wrench)
10 seconds to inspect.
and another 10 minutes to install back in.
as for adjustment. hmm, easiest way is support your car with jackstand and adjust the play slowly until the wheel stops spinning.
