Cloth Seat Question
I've just notice the cloth interior option, that the seat itself actually does not come with that hard ABS Plastic (or whatever you call that) on the back, which is all over in those 2 tone seat that we have seen.
Can someone double confirm that??

Hard Plastic Seat Back is Good?
Is the hard seat back preferable over the softer cloth seat back? I didn't realize leather seats were only leather in front and plastic in back. I would think a softer seat back is better as passengers in back probably would be hitting their knees against the back of the front seats.

The Fabric seat only get the rotor accent on both sides Vs the leather only gets the rotor accent on the front.
There is appox. 1.5 square where the back seat passangers can rub their knees on.

Actually, this is one of the reasons I'm leaning towards the cloth. I don't like that big plastic back, seems kind of cheap. IMO, the all cloth might have a better quality feel from rear passenger's perspective. The plastic maybe easier to clean if the kids get their feet on it, but it might also be easier to scratch. Anyway, I'm waiting until I can see both before deciding for sure.

I remember reading something about how Mazda designed to seatbelt warning sound to gradually increase in volume until the driver buckles up. I guess this can help persuade people sitting in the back to buckle up in order to avoid smashing their faces into the hard plastic.
I still percieve the plastic to have a cheaper look than the cloth, but perhaps my opinion will change once I see it in person.

The cloth seat from the side looks a little chunkier. Could be just a illusion as the hard plastic back cut half the upholstery thus making it looks sleeker.
I love the hard back, it sets apart from the others.:p

From seeing the cloths seats yesterday, I think I like the look of the leather with hard backing better, though I;d be worried about scuffs and such.
I think it'll be very annoying for any passengers of my car when I give them the "rules" for being "allowed" to sit/ride in my car

Sat in the RX-8 Type S today, which has a black tan leather interior. The hard plastic shell has a cut out in the middle, to prevent the rear passenger's knees from bruising. But no seat pockets though.

Also, they've been practicing getting in and out of my Nissan without stepping on the doorsills and without stepping on the back seats.

Saw, touch and sat in 2 typeS today. But since we're on the seat topic, one more thing I've noticed.
With the cloth seat, beside you don't get the hard shell backing, you too don't get, electronic seat adjustment, lumbar support, and most importantly the side air bags.
Hi Fab8, where did you sat in that black RX-8 and do you got a price for that? I'm very keen to take a look at one with the hard shell.

At the same time, the first ding in a parking lot is going to majorly T me off. I'm not so forgiving of complete strangers who just can't be bothered to spend the time to A) park properly and B) figure out how to get out of their vehicle without leaning their door on my car.
