Yeah, that. I adjusted the steering up already to give myself more leg room.

Haha, I'm pretty sure i'd get banned if I put a picture of my butt here. I;'ll try to get some pics.

OK, here's my problem & solution:

  1. All my work pants have buttons in my back pocket and I am guessing that's what's scraping the leather off everytime I get in.
  2. I'm going to let my dealership know, but doubt they'll do anything.
  3. I'm slopping alot of AutoGlym Leather Protector onto the chafed bits and it seems to help a little.
  4. I have adjusted my steering column upwards to give me more space.
  5. I push my seat back to get in and out.
  6. I sit close to the steering wheel when I drive as I don't like to full stretch my left leg when pressing on the clutch (but not too close).
  7. I hate that my 3 week old 09 RX8 leather seats are slightly ruined and there's no way back except to change the leather seat cover (which would cost a few hundred at least?)
  8. And I'm annoyed I didn't notice it sooner
  9. And I'm sharing witheveryone here so you guys don't make the same mistake..

My cloth seats are doing the same kinda thing. And the shift boot cracked. I have 34,500 miles. I'm taking it in for the 30,000 mile tuneup and reported this stuff... they immediately said they'd order the shift boot, but about the seat, they said, "well, we'll have to see about that."

It goes in on May 23rd, I'll post what happens with the seat afterwards.

LOL yea they are very... foreign. Besides them having the perfect car for me I bought there for the free oil changes (it's a ridiculous pita to get to the filter on sII). I haven't gone there for one yet but I'll be very annoyed if they say no to 5w-30.

Yep, those buttons do it everytime.

I have the same problem. Either you move the seat back every time you exit or pay the consequences.

Unintentional and never meant to do it . I'm babying my car like nobody's business, car wash, wax,. interior clean, leather cream, etc

I'm getting in very carefully now and have adjusted the steering column up and its helped.

BTW told the dealer/ head of maintenance about it, he said he will check, and he told me if the seams on the seat split, then they will replace under warranty as the airbag is in the seat. But I'm not getting any ideas on making the seams split so the cover can be replaced! :P

Glad you posted this. I have found myself doing the same thing. Luckily no damage. What i do as a preventative measure is put my hand on the side of the seat where my *** was sliding against it as i get in. Problem solved.

omg people this isn't that difficult. Just balance your body mass as you swing in and don't hit anything. If you can't do this then how the hell can you even steer; much less operate a clutch.
