Cell Phone

I'm looking for some ideas on what to do withmy cell phone while i'm in the RX-8.

I usually put it in the center console, but can't hear it when it rings. I used to have a belt clip for my old phone and put it on the window visor and that worked great.

Anyone have any good ideas?

btw i've got a razr

thanks

there's been a number of threads on this very topic.

cup holder was my answer the last time.

other answers include overhead compartment, velcro on the dash, hands free kits, putting the phone on viberate and under your crotch (not kidding), or in your pocket.

I got a holder that clips on the center vents. I use a older style phone and can connect the charger and headset with it there.

you can get 1 of those no slip pads and put it on your dash they work i always just put mine where the extra plug in is so im not tempted to use it other than an emergency there really is no reason to use your cell phone while driving unless you feel like messing up your pretty car

I just got a bluetooth headset so it beeps in my ear. this way I can shift and talk at the sametime. I can also bump my music and not have to worry about missing the call.

i think any of the following would work, as i have tried them all myself:

a) get a little sticky pad (not velcro, its a foam pad with a lot of friction...) & put it on your dash.

b) as you have a razr, get some sort of bluetooth setup. either an earpiece or a handsfree device that has a microphone mount, usually placed at the junction between the A-pillar & roof, a speaker, often placed on the passenger side of the verticalish center console piece, & a unit that has the electronics, where you would press a single (or maybe 2 separate) button for answering or ending. i have such a device in my car (made by Raytel) & mounted the unit horizontally between the cup holders & the seat heater buttons, which prevents accidental cases of hotbutt (NOT intended to be funny, for the record)...

c) put it in the ashtray in front of the shifter. i have a razr as well, & it sits there nicely.

It is. I usually let it keep ringing, or vibrating for that matter.

Here's a Do-It-Yourself post for a dash-mounted cell phone.

I have a cd holder that mounts on the sunvisor and it has a little mesh pocket for cell phones. works very nice because even if i cant hear it ringing i can see the light out of the corner of my eye.

I went blue tooth to solve this issue and it works quite nicely. Just put your phone on the passenger seat and drive away...

I picked up a Bluetooth wireless ear speaker/mic for my Razr, direct from Moto (used to work for them so got a bit of a deal). Works very well. I store the mic in the ashtray. The phone is always on my belt.

Setting it on vibrate and under my crotch enables me to drive hands free whenever it rings.
