CEL help?

Okay, I got into my car and started it like usual and let it warm up. I went inside to grab a drink and wait 5 min for my wankel to warm.

I get back into my car and see a nice CEL display on the dash. I drove it around for a little bit, cleared the carbon out (beeped it a few times ) and its still on, no blinking just lit.

I guess I'll call my local mazda as it is still under warrenty, and make an appointment.

IDK what it could be.....hmm it is raining out, maybe moisture? The only thing I did was check my oil, and used a different gas. GULF instead of Sunoco, but still 93 octane. But GULF has 10% enthonal in it, but my gas light was on and I was desperate.

any idears?

and yes, I did search.

Well I went over to my friends house and he had a computer to run a diagnostics on the car. We checked the code and its an exhaust leak, and in parenthesis it says (large).

The funny thing is that the car still sounds the same...

I still think it's your gas cap. I had the problem on my Speed, tightened it down and ignored the CEL for a couple days. I was about to call the dealership but it disappeared on the day I was going to call (3rd day post-tightening).

Also, CEL's will disappear on a certain number of engine start cycles if the problem does not exist anymore. Now I don't know if this pertains to the gas cap, but my shutter valve was stuck open causing a CEL. Drove it around a bit b/c I was out of town (but I had checked at AutoZone for the code and determined what is was) and the light went off b/c the valve became unstuck and the CEL went off. It ended up returning b/c it stuck again causing me to take it to the dealer under warranty... but besides the fact, I think CEL's will disappear if the problem does not occur again in a certain amount of start cycles.
