CEL, fixed spark plugs, now CEL is back

Damn it, I thought the dealership fixed it. I had a CEL weeks ago and dealership told me it was fouled plugs, so they replaced it with hot plugs for free under TSB.

I thought they fixed it, coz afterwards the low rpm power was noticeably there. And to make things better, I was getting 17-18 MPG for the past few tanks (compared to 15-16 MPG and rough idle). Now as I was stopping from a 30-min freeway drive, CEL bumps up!

I read the codes with my CANscan and this is what I get:

Vehicle Reports 1 Stored Trouble Code(s)
TC1 -P0301
P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
Pending Code 1 -P0003--P0003 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Low
Pending Code 2 -P0100--P0100 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction

...which is by the way exactly the same codes I received before!

ps. Last Sunday my car hesitated to go beyond 7,000 rpm on my 1st gear blip. It felt like it had hit a rev limiter bouncing up and down like a maniac. Is it the weather? WTF!

Here's the sheet on P0301. No info in the shop manual on the Pending Codes.

Hey man.. This is exactly what I am going through. They actually voided my warranty when it came down to it because they thought that one of my aftermarket parts was causing the problem. I am in the middle of trying to find a lawyer or contact SEMA for mroe assistance.

I have been having this issue every since my 30k service where my injectors were flushed. I suddenly smelled fuel and could barely even drive in the car. I am still having the CEL issue and it's been on for the past 6 months (or more)...

I am fed up with it and have been trying to find a lawyer. My car is practically back to stock and the light is still on. Obviously it wasnt anythign that I had done and it's not right that they voided my entire warranty...

The only code I have is a P0301 just like you....

My brother.. haha

Sucks huh??? I am giong to contact SEMA soon and hopefully they can point me in the right direction. I dont want to be nice with them anymore so I am hoping that they can suggest a lawyer to me....

I don't have mods in my car and yes it is Red, but no 30K service yet, I only have around 18K.

Changes made are painted calipers, added mud guards, clear corners and hardwired radar det. I have suspension mods waiting, but I don't want Mazda to wash their hands and say it is my fault so I'm trying to stay away from changing anything major for now.

I had this problem at 12K and new plugs fixed it since. I hope to God they find out whats wrong on your 8 because I surely dont want to go thru that again to find out new plugs aint the answer..

GOOD LUCK!

I unplugged my batteries and after plugging them back in, I reset the PCM with the brake taps. Everything seems to be running much smoother and stronger now. I have been pushing the car since then and no CEL yet. Only lots of chirps when I shift :D

I have an 04 rx8 with 65000 miles and I went to the dealer and they changed a air pump that they said it failed and they looked over my car and told me everything was running fine. the cel was off and when i got on the road home the light came on again. $750.00 later and not fixed. any help here? I am not sure what i have to do. I do not have any mods on my car.
