Cat Delete and DEQ Inspection Question

Here in Washington State, they do DEQ Inspections by connecting to the OBD and check for any error codes. They don't do the sniff test here

I've recently installed a cat-delete. I understand that the Accessport is the only way to remove the CEL; however, I have a scanner and I can manually delete the CEL. I just deleted the CEL, and I'm sure after a few days it'll come back.

First question, will I be able to pass inspection by clearing the CEL codes prior to inspection, or do I have to install the cat or accessport?

Second question, can the Accessport permanently delete the CEL code from ever popping up?

thanks

Once you delete the cel you can pass if some conditions are met. Basically keep checking with your obd2 scanner and once all but one emissions test is complete you can pass(at least in vegas). I went right up to the smog place and explained that I just had a cel reset and fixed the problem and asked how long I had to wait til I could pass and that is what he told me. Turns out it was true, my catalytic emissions test never completed but it was the last to show "incomplete" so I passed just fine. You might also need at least a few driving cycles done but I'm not 100% if that matters. Unless you are driving a ton in those few days the cel wont come back mine takes several hundred miles to pop up.

The access port will permanently disable the cel and you will not see it and either would the emissions place.

Don't worry about the smell or sound or any of that, they are just doing their job and couldn't care less as long it looks legal on paper. When I got it done the first time with a midpipe on I was worried because you could smell that it had no cat even standing next to it but the guy didn't say a word.
