Castrol 5w30 Conventional No Longer Made

I went to try to get some Castrol 5w30 GTX conventional oil after my reserve has been used, but discovered it is no longer available. The closest Castrol now has is 5w30 Ultraclean semi-synthetic. Read a few places certain wear specs actually decreased. End up replacing it with Chevron Supreme Conventional API SN 5w30. Found an oil rating site that rated it as the best 5w30 conventional for wear rating for whatever that is worth. Amazon was out, but Walmart had it for a very reasonable cost all-in delivered.

Just offering this as a quick-reference for those who wish to stick with 5w30 conventional.

You are correct. I have always used 10w-40 GTX anyways. Works great in this car.

The new replacement synthetic blend is called Castrol GTX ULTRACLEAN 5W-30, so it may be that.

Any SAE SN-rated conventional oil is fine and replace it often.

I have run 10w-40 in mine since I have owned it. You should be fine in SoCal. Probably would not run that in Jersey in the winter though. Mine is not a DD though so I hardly every use in winter.

Don't know why it's $26 online.
