Car for winter driving

With winter tires, the RX-8 is a great winter car. I drove mine all last winter, no problems. I actually prefer driving it to our Audi allroad (quattro AWD), even though both are fitted with winter tires - the RX-8 is much more fun.

Actually I bought the 8 for my winter/daily driver :p
My other car is a 911 Turbo. It goes in storage for the winter next week. I won't see it again till next April. Ahhh the great Chicago weather. Oh well I have to order my winter rims/tires on Monday.

I have my 1994 Honda Prelude I drove around last winter. But now my wife is working so we both need cars. So this year I bought new rims and snow tires for the car.

The 8 will be hibernating most of the winter, w/ the occasional blast in the town when the roads are dry and salt free. I'll be sporting my Maxima or if my wife lets me, take the Navigator :p

I will drive my 92 Toy Truck 4WD with 162,000 on it!!!! till the Spring. The road crews throw down rocky gravel, and Mag Chloride to help with melting which can really mess up the underbody of any vehicle and then with the rocks on the roads other vehicles kick these up and you have WMDs coming at you to pit front ends and damage windshields. Windshield shops here in CO love this time of the year as they have tons of business replacing windshields. Not the RX!! nope. However, if I were forced with no other option I would go with all season M/S rated tires and try to survive the best I could by taking the back streets and staying off major highways due to the WMDs.
