car towed to dealer, wont give loaner??
2004 rx8. car wont start, had it towed to dealer sunday afternoon, asked dealer monday (today) about my loaner for warranty service, and they said i dont get a loaner until they have a chance to look at the car, which they dont know when it will be.
this doesnt seem right! or does the roadside assistance provide a car?
james
ps did anyone see the rx8 win that grand am race last weekend?

JAmes, they clearly should give you a loaner. As waldo pointed it out, this is a warranty issue and they have to give you a loaner as far as I understood it.
Besides, the 'no start' condition is discussed in that newly updated TSB which also contains the necessary steps to take care of this issue. You should (and likely will) get the new M calibration for the PCM that helps with this 'no start' situation. Take a look at the TSB here, print it out and show it to your dealer in case they don't know about it (or should they they claim so).
If you get trouble with getting your car re-flashed, get over to Putnam and ask them to do it. I had no problem when I brought the car back to them 10 days ago for the airbag recall and they gave me a loaner with no problem whatsoever. I asked for the reflash and they did that as well.

Absolutely escalate, because you're entitled to a loaner. However, be aware that the loaner could be pretty much anything - there's no guarantee that you'll get a new or current model Mazda, much less another RX-8. You might not even get a Mazda!

1) FIND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP!
2) Inform Mazda!
There is no excuse for this dealership's ignorance. You should always get a loaner for any service! I've been asked if I wanted a loaner even when getting an oil change or routine service.

im driving my car home from the dealer and stop at a light. the cockpit fills with smoke and i see plumes of smoke all around the car! must be unburned oil they put in the motor? the service advisor tells me it is unburned fuel from the flooding.
yes, they are lame, but if i just go elsewhere (which isnt easy) then they are getting away with not servicing rx8's, which i am sure they would prefer to do. id rather that they figured out how to do this right. BTW the service tech i talked to was cool.
i will be writing a letter to mazda NA.

It took me a while, but I realized after quite a lot of heartache, that it's not my job to right all the wrongs in the world. I can influence the world to a large extent, but it's usually counter-productive for me to make a point with the hope that someone else learns from it.
My two cents worth: let them get away with it, don't let them harm your RX-8.
Now, if you're going there because they're the only dealer close to you - and you did mention that the service tech was cool (meaning knows his stuff, I hope) - then it may be worth the effort ...
