car quality

well im at about 9,300 miles and i have to say the quality of this car is amazing....not one rattle or any annoying sounds.....this car sounds and drives as good as it did the day i bought it. Mazda did a great job in building this car.....lets hope it stays this way (knock on wood)......you guys agree????

I was really happy with the build of my '95 Miata - nary a rattle or a clatter, and zero mechanical problems over the course of eight years. I'm really happy with the 8 so far too. (I'm a little leery of the sliding lid over the cupholder - it's gonna break, and probably sooner than later - but that's minor.) As far as fit and finish and freedom from rattles, etc. goes, it kicks ***.

I agree. The build quality seems excellent. The only problem I've seen so far is the door sill trim plates coming loose, but that's very minor.

that cup holder is definitely gonna go, but the quality of the vehicle is superb. I owned a wrx previously and I was in love with that car. the 8 is superior which I didn't think would be possible. it is a kick *** car it feels great to own one.

I have had mine for 12,300 and I love the quality. No rattles or squeaks anywhere.

I only have 700 miles on mine but so far I agree 100%. Of all the cars I have ever driven, new or old, this by far is the very best.

Oh yeah!

My '93 MX-6 with almost 200,000 miles is still rock-solid. Amazing! Mazda knows how to put a car together. Don't let anyone tell you different!

I just turned 7,000 miles and not single rattle or problem to speak of. Although yesterday someone backed into my rear quarter panel on the passenger side in a grocery store parking lot. OUCH!!

I find the paintwork to be sub-par.

Wow, I must be really unlucky. I have an uncountable number of rattles and creaks and they're driving me crazy. The dealer took the car in for a day and managed to not fix even one of them.

It's such a shame because in almost every other respect the car is superb.

True, but at least the recurring complaints are minor- Too much brake dust, MPG (which everyone knew about when they got the car), oh, no, a hairline scratch, door sill inserts come off... What if everyone were saying things like, man, I'm on my third tranny in 10k miles, or, my brakes went out again the other day. We get complaints like, this car stops too fast. Personally, I'm glad to see complaints of this lesser nature. It signifies a great car that the only complaints are nitpicks.

Ha, no, I hadn't even seen that one. I was making fun of the complaints regarding the "aggressive" brake pads. I'd rather replace the rotors when they wear down as opposed to not being able to stop exactly when and where I want. Small price to pay, I think- gotta love the brakes.

I have close to 8000 miles and have owned mine for about 9 months now. No rattles, nothing's broken yet. I don't baby it, but I don't abuse it either.

As for the paint, I have (fixed them) a few chips up front. It does seem like the thing chips easier than other cars I've owned, but maybe it's just the fact that it's yellow, and when it chips black shows underneath the paint (?).

At any rate, I'm still in love with the car as much as I was when I first got it, and it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. It's a great car so far.

I have 140K on my '91 NSX and not one rattle....That's superb build quality!!! I was a little hesitant in picking up another Mazda (especially after my '93 FD....that car was cool, but crap quality....inside materials, sqeaks rattles, leather and at 80K). Its good to see that Mazda has vastly improved quality of the interior. I have yet to sit in one. I might pass a dealership to try and sit in one.

With just shy of 14,000 on the odo, and after 9 months of ownership, my RX-8 is still as tight as she was when I first got her.

No rattles, no wear points, no issues.

The tires will need replacing within the next 5-8K miles tho...

I have yet to purchase an RX8 but I too have noticed the paint to be "sub-par" as one member stated earlier.

There is a fair degree of "orange-peel" in the paint at most of the cars that I have seen in my dealer's showroom. Kind of strange, since you would think that some sort of quality control would be in place to notice that kind of stuff before it gets out the door.

I don't mean to thread hijack, but I've always wondered what kind of paint (what brand?) Mazda uses.
