i ran the vin on the car in the first post. its a bit weird, it has not had ANY of the recall work done, but it has a service history at a dealership.

engine and clutch warranties are expired.

its a grand touring with navi, appearance package and rear wing, so its pretty fully loaded

I would shy away from anything with extensive mod's, they won't raise the KBB value(which is purely subjective anyway). As my very wise grandfather once said (he never went past the 8th grade) "you see Mike, these companies put a considerable investment into R&D, these cars are engineered a certain way by highly paid and trained engineers, you'll notice these guys who monkey with their cars will always have problems down the road...."

Anyone who still cares....Basically I found they sent me a form to sign and sent back agreeing to the non refundable deposit, which obvi I didn't sent back yet. So I disputed with my bank and got a refund. I brought up the tune and compression test to them and they said they would cover it......never heard back from them. Clearly they can't get all that done on their little shop. So overall....learning experience with no real consequence. I appreciate all the replies to help me a decision. Gotta love the RX8 club members
