I would never insult my car by refering to it as a she. My car is always fun, never tempermental, and always into trying something new. Cars are like hookers: always fun

She, He, It ...? In French, cars have a feminine gender and are always referred to as She.
Just wondering.
Much as I love it it's an still an "it" for me. I always think it sounds slightly creepy referring to inanimate objects as "she" in English. Obviously, in some languages everything has to be masculine or feminine so this does not sound unusual. Although I think in German cars are neuter (das Auto). I guess there must be some languages in which cars are masculine?

To the specific question, either "my car", "the RX-8", or "it".

The "he" or "she" doesn't seem to be clicking yet, maybe later.

All of my cars have had female names. And I've always referred to them as "she". I cannot imagine why I do it. Nor can I imagine doing any different.

I call it "bumblebee", which I guess makes it female (it certainly is not a Drone!) :D

In Brazilian Portuguese, it depends on the car's name; the R-x8 would be male (O "r-x-'oito'"/ Aquele rx-8), a lamborghini, would almost always be female (A lamborghini/Aquéla lamborghini). btw, any other Brazilians in this forum?............ I live in FL though, and was born in CA. In english I refer to cars as it or she.
