Can anyone recommend a car shipping company? I just bought an rx8 from up north
I just bought a new rx8 from NJ (smoking deal) but now I need to ship it. Can anyone recommend a transport company? i'm thinking about using trusty transport. they are a broker and they gave me a quote of $565 insured open carrier. http://www.trustytransport.com/

Be sure to pay the extra to insure that your RX8 is on the top row of cars. Typically, transporters haul used cars, which tend to drip nasty stuff down onto the cars on the lower deck. Usually costs about $150-200 more to guarantee your car will be "up top".

Not a bad time to ship due to the fact the snowbirds are heading North to wreak havoc on the roads back home. In addition to being "on top" (snicker..snicker) try to be either the first or last one off. This way the car will not be off loaded/reloaded frequently. Also, make sure your delivery is during the day so you can examine the car inch by inch. Once you sign the release, the shipping company is off the hook for any damage. I've bought two car the same exact way and everything worked out great! Good Luck!

I used a shipping company out of FL a few years back to have my REPU ship from GA to MA,and it was an enclosed trailer with a state of the art tractor.I think the truck and trailer measured about 80' all together, and the driver was very profesional about his job.He had a check sheet with every ding and sratch marked on it,which I didn't care about because it was a 30 year old truck that I was going to restore anyway.I found the shippers name in a copy of Hemmings Motor news, and gave them a call after battling with a local(MA) shipper about them not picking up the car when they said they would 3 times.I was going with the local place because I figured why not give them the business and plus their open trailer price was around $550.I was fed up with them playing around with me so I got on the phone, and this guy I used told me he had a truck in the area and would call me back in 5 minutes if the driver hadn't gone by the exit in GA that he needed to take.Well 2 minutes later he called me back and said the truck was on its way,and my truck would be in MA on saturday morning.Sure as heck it was where they said it would be,and early at that.I will try to find the slip I got from them, and give you the info.It cost me quite a bit more to use these guys but it was well worth it in the long run.I think it was around $8-900 shipped from door to a local trucking place near-by.Good luck, and check out Hemmings they have lots of shipping ads.
