Hey All,

How do you mount a camcorder/digital camera behind your front seat in the 8 in order to get a video of your drive? I mounted the camcorder on a tripod stand and put it behind the seat, but the camera shook too much during the drive and the video came out bad/real shaky.

I'm not quite sure on the best way to do this so I need your help with suggestions. I'm quite certain many of you have done this already.

Take out Pass thru.

Drill two bolts into metal of rear deck.

Drill two matching holes in 1" square tubing.

Drill quarter inch hole for std. cam mount bolt on front of tubing.

When installed, mount sits just behind front seats, with good field of view.

No fuss, solid, and steady.

Yea, the chasecam is what I bought. Works OK for small cameras and you can put it anywhere on your car (glass/body) even outside. I would strap it on though. I bought the twin triple suction cup model.

 

I've got both a Chase Cam and SpinMount. Both are good but they suit different purposes. The Chase Cam has a much wider angle of view and when mounted low to the ground (i.e. under the front bumper) it gives a nice sense of speed with the road rushing by at mach one. The down side is that all of the action seems too far away. You practically have to be a car length behind the person in front of you to see them well. It took me a while to find some replacement lenses but I have had a hard time getting them to focus properly.

Where as the SpinMount holds a normal camcorder just behind the front seats. From that position it allows the camera to see a good portion of the interior. Which I think helps people identify what you are driving. The angle of view also gives a better sense of the action with regards to traffic. The only problems I've run into are camcorder related. Some times the auto brightness gets confused. The end result is a great shot of the interior of the car but the world outside of the windshield is a complete white out.

 

Simple, solid, adjustable.

Change the elevation by using more/less washers under the wing-nuts.

Elegant?....no.

Elegant in it's simplicity?.....and cheap too!

Did the same thing as stealth but with a wooden dowel into that little compartment. No vibration at all, unless im in the rumble strips
