Buzzing noise from tranny

Hey, guys. a quick question. I did some search, but could not find any answer. Sorry if this has been answered before.

I have a 05, it's only 1200 miles. Besides the typical notchy 1-2nd gear, I actually have heard a buzzing noise from the gear box when it only has 100 miles. This noise last about 1-2 sec, and will come and go randomly, regardless of speed or gear I am in. It's not that loud, but loud enough to hear if you concentrate. And it's pretty annoying, I tell ya.

It does not happen when I step on clutch. It just happens when I am coasting or crusing...kind of odd..

is it a throwout bearing? or is it normal?

Thanks, guys!

well, i can't help you specifically with your problem, but i have noticed in my 05 RX8, i can be sitting perfectly still in the garage, (doenst matter if its warming up or coming back from a drive) ill park, stick it in neutral (put on the Ebrake) and let off the clutch and I get a "whirring/buzzing" noise from the car. The noise stops as soon as I put the clutch in. No other problems, just that noise, im guessing everything is fine with my car.

Any guru's here care to shed some light on this situation for us?

Don't worry about it. The transmission is about 3' from your ears. You're going to hear noises. The noises change under load, coast and deceleration.

There are hundreds of threads on this.

Search under throw out bearing or input shaft noise.

Check fluid level. Even better, replace the trans fluid with Royal Purple. I was amazed at how much quieter my trans was after I did that.
