Buying used

Other than the obvious reasons (breaking in, etc), are there any concerns or things to check out when buying a used rx-8? There is a dealer with a 2004 6MT Touring w/ 15,000 miles. They are asking 22k for it. I know I can probably get them down to 20,000 for the car, but is there any way to check the engine/trans for signs of abuse? I know to check to make sure the gears engage correctly, and the clutch is smooth. And it should still be covered by the warrantee, so I should be able to get any new flashes/tsb's. Do you have any other advice on buying used?

This may not help you a whole lot but with the deals you can get on new RX-8s right now it almost doesn't make sense to buy a used one. With lower rates for a new car and the option to finance longer I don't see any reason why you couldn't get a new '05 for cheaper per month than a used one. Plus the deals will probably be even better in a couple weeks.

Other than that there are always concerns when buying a used car. Pay attention to things like tire wear and how much brakelife is left, those are good indicators of hard a car has been driven.

I just bought a NEW RX8 6-speed with Sports Package, Spoiler, and Cargo liner for $25200 Out The Door...

Sales tax is 6.5% here...

Dealers are doing a $1500 discount and $1000 from MAC...

Just for reference...

Good luck...

Thanks for the info. I remember last year people were getting something like $4500 off the left over 04's. Maybe once the 06's hit the lots, I can score a deal on a new 05. The thing that sucks the most is waiting...I wasnt planning on getting a car for another month or so, but the new car bug has bitten me.

With what $$ have in mine ('04 ) I couldnt get a fair used price anyways, unless someone just doesnt want to go through the **** of building a new one up from scratch.
