FL Buying a Used 8

Okay so I been going crazy about buying a RX-8 for like the last year and half or so.

I been to the Mazda dealership and they do have the 5k rebate at the time but they are all out of Regual Sport Version (MT), and the GT they have is last one they got and its at $26k which I can't afforid nor get a big enough down payment to bring payments down.

So I decided to go ahead and get a used. I found a pretty nice Phantom Blue '06 RX-8 (MT) but its 46,000 milies and its listed for $12K and I don't know what trim it is either I have to go there today and take a look.

I was wondering if thats a good price or if I should keep looking around for other used 8's thou I really want Phantom Blue and (MT).

Also do I get the 100,000 Mile Warrenty if I buy it used???

Any answers will help me out since I'm sorta new to 8's

The first thing that you should when you go and see the car is to see any maintenance records the seller has, make sure all the TSB's have been performed, ask how the car was driven (make sure the car has been redlined regularly), and do a carfax. Also, if the plugs and coils have been changed.

You will still have the 100K warranty so that is not the question you should be worried about.

Look at the brakes, tires , check for rust and general body/paint appearance, exhaust condition.

Lastly, drive the car - check for vibrations, rattles, and other eyebrow raising concerns

Good Luck

when you test it make sure the car is either warmed up first or keep testing it till it is warmed up. Some problems only seem to creep up when it's warm.

12K seems a good price for a '06 phantom blue. most likely it is sport, but still, good price. just check thoroughly before buy.

Yes most are fixed

But there are still a few others that can become problematic over time

example-- clutch pedal, sunroof rattle, NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE / STABILIZER CONTROL LINK BROKEN, etc etc.

I realize that the bumper to bumper warranty is gone. That's why it's important to see if all the problem (if there was a problem) were resolved.

There's nothing worse then a dealer trying to get money out of a owner after the bumper to bumper has pasted by.

Asking these questions could help with any aggravation in the future
