Buyer's remorse for AccessPort??

For those that have purchased the Cobb AP, do you have any regrets spending the $700? If so, what are they?

$700 is a chunk of coin, so it would be good to hear from some people that may not love it. It's always good to hear both side.

The only regret I can imagine people would have is not buying it directly from MazdaManiac!

Someone in the Houston RX-8 club has one and said if they had to do it over again they wouldn't buy it.

In theory just having the fans turn on sooner and the OMP inject more oil is worth it in the long run. Seems like a good longevity/cooling mod. But, I don't have one so maybe some people who do can chime in here.

P.S. If you are turboed it seems to be the best way to go.

It does more than that.

you really don't have a clue.

It adjusts AFR and timing.

For a NA RX-8 that is mostly stock there isn't much difference in power. I don't want to speak for one our local guys because I don't have it nor did I even ride in his car. My .02 is that just for cooling alone its almost worth it.

I haven't gotten the maps installed yet, but from what I hear there is also a noticeable fuel efficiency improvement.

The gains in whp are only a scratch on the surface of the capability of the accessport. You're able to fully tune the vehicle for fuel and timing, eliminate check engine lights, control OMP amounts, cooling fans, idle speed, as well as a host of other features.

With the right tuner, you can customze your vehicle for the way you drive it. The only downside to buying the accessport is wondering how you lived without it.

I have heard of one or two RX8's around the country that had problems with the accessport. Even still, it's price less than other piggy back alternatives.

No regrets AT ALL.

Fans are kicking on sooner, more oil is being injected, and I"m confident those two will greatly increase my engine's chances of lasting waaay past the 100k mark.

Oh, did I mention the 19 horsepower I picked up???

Tempting, but since I live only about 3 miles from Cobb, I thought that if and when I get one, I'll get it from them.

Did you verify that on a dyno, Jedi? Impressive for a "little black box".

^^^ having cobb close by is nice but you won't get all the maps that you would with buying from MM.
