This past saturday, I got into a wreck. T-boned my little corolla. (Farewell Old Friend).



Now, I've been wanting a Mazda RX-8 since it's introduction. Unfortantly, i've been hearing that now the car is going out of production.

Would you, members of RX-8club, recommend going for a model now - or wait until the next rx-8 comes out... if one comes out (aka Rx-7)

 

Never put off 'til tomorrow. It's very unclear what the future holds for a rotary, so if you really want one .... Besides, there are great deals to be had out there new and pre-owned.

Start with the For Sale section of the forum. Cars.com, Autotrader, craigslist, eby, local dealerships. The list goes on. It's just like buying any other car.

Unfortunately, when Mazda finally rolls the last RX-8 out of the production line, every single RX-8 will instantly cease to function at all. Including the one that just came off the line. End of production life clearly means end of life as we know it. The only cars that are running at all are ones who still have newer variants still running.

Barrett Jackson auctions? All of those are just rolling shells.

 

First thing first - what's your budget? I think it's important to set out how much you're willing to spend on a replacement car before you go searching for something.

If you don't set a limit for yourself, things can get out of hand real fast!

I would definitely get one now.

The next generation RX-8 won't be here for at least a couple of years. If you get a used late model RX-8, you get the benefit of several years of model refinement. What's more, the 8 has been a bargain almost from when it first appeared. Then it became an even bigger bargain, as there was never much demand. Now, with news of the current model's departure, prices will drop even further.

Think about it. You could get what is, in effect, a rare and exotic $50 - $60K sports car for the price of a used Accord. Chance of a lifetime.

 

I took the advice and went ahead with it.

I've already worked out the finicial issues with the insurance, and my budget. It's not going to be tight, but at the same time... well, i've been a fan of this car for years.

I found a 13k '09 R3 (MT) for about $24,000. 9.9 apr @ 389 for 6 years - Carmax

 

I recommend getting a bar of soap as the Camry will suit you better.

Your insurance rates will be much better.
