Buy Back Re-sales

I'm curious how much of a mark-down will be on the previously owned buy-backs... I know there aren't going to be very many, in fact, last i talked to him, my dealer wasn't buying back any... I'm just curious if there are some interested people out there who might be able to get a pretty good deal on a virtually new 8...

Do a search, Mazda is not going to offer the cars to the general public and they will be offered to employees of Mazda. Whcih is a good thing since a sudden availability of used RX-8 would not help resale nor help Mazda sell new ones.

Yup. Also, the dealer isn't buying them back, Mazda is. The dealer is just the place where you take it if you have Mazda buy it back. It'll get trucked-out from there.

In Minnesota the buy backs are reduced $2000 from MSRP. Saw about 6 on the Mazda lot and about 15 new ones going at MSRP.

Interesting info. I went by the dealer here and saw 15 RX8's!!! One of them was black and had a line on it across the nose area just like a clear bra. I got out and felt the crease and there was not any sign of a clear bra. I am not sure if it was a buyback or just dropped off the truck and some type of nose protector was removed but it also had a handwritten sticker in the window - No price. All the others had regular dealer stickers. It was gone 2 days ago when I went by. Four of the RX8's are gone too. He has 1 red, 1 titanium, 2 blue, 2 yellow, 2 green, and 3 silver. From what I have seen arrive at this dealer, I would say that red and blue disappear quickly. Titanium has been few and far between and they too go quickly. Any time I have been in since I bought mine they always have black and silver on the lot - doesn't mean much since it is one dealer but just an FYI on this dealer.

This goes against everything I have ever heard. You'll need to proove it for us to believe it. I know that sounds like a challenge, it's just the truth.

edit: whoa! ha ha. you win Rodster :D

This doesn't make any sense, honestly- 6 buybacks at ONE dealer? That would be what, about 4% of all the buybacks at one dealer? Out of all the Mazda dealers in the US? I find that very difficult to believe. However, if you post the dealer and someone can confirm it, I apologize. I was told by Mazda RX-8 orders that the buybacks weren't going to be for sale at the dealers, so until I hear proof otherwise, I don't believe the above.

I hope the reports about Mazda reselling the buybacks at dealers is not true. If it is I would be seriously pissed if I were an 8 owner. Goodluck guys, I hope Mazda doesn't screw up again.

My dealer says they can't keep the buy backs. They get shipped off. They don't seem to know what Mazda NA is going to do with them. (My dealer has only had one come back, and it's a very large dealership.)

elara did a good job of clearing it up i thought, but just in case this was posted some time ago:

Yes, a perfectly good car is going to be branded as a lemon-law buy-back vehicle. They will not be re-sold to consumers at the dealer. Mazda employees are getting first dibs on them, and I hear quite a few are excited and waiting for you to turn your car in.
which was posted after contacting MNAO on the matter. it was also checked by dan and bern i believe.

Not "reports" Ike, "report". I've only heard this from Schweizer here & that's all. Un-confirmed thus far.

I think we should consider that one bogus now. Schweizer hasn't replied to these expressions of doubting his word, so either he doesn't care about us, or he silently stands corrected, or he's remaining mute after his intentional lie.

Schweizer, you can post here please. Schweizer?

Yeah, looks like it was just a made up story. The internet just boggles the mind sometimes...

Not trying to start anything....But I'm definately curious about this. I don't want to get my 8 next month and see the depreciation through the roof. So, I decided to check on ebay. Granted, it's not as good as going to individual dealers, but, here's what I found...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6316

(Jim Ellis Dealership in Atlanta,GA....Seems new, with only 10 miles on it. Later in the descripton, it even says you are bidding on "a new car with 0 miles"...but it also shows in the general description as "Title : Used" and then at the bottom shows warranty "As-Is" and "Ext warranty Avail". Has a link for carfax, but I don't have an account. Shows 2 entries in history)

(Another one from Jim Ellis. Same thing, just a different model)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6316

(just threw this one in. A used 8 w/3800miles on it. It's at an Acura Dealership. Why the hell would ANYONE want to buy an 8 and then trade it in...WTF!!!)
______________________________________________

So, what is up. I know that is only 2 dealers. I might try to call them tommorrow and talk to the sales contact. It may just be a typo on several of the slots. If someone has a carfax account, can yall pull it up and see what the 2 entries are. I'm hoping they are just for manufacturer and then dealer.

I got ripped-off big-time over an ebay deal. I feel reeeeeel stupid about my lack of street smarts applied on that one. Two years later...

I dunno about cars over ebay.

I have bought a car using autobytel.com though. It was a very sweet deal. It was priced below trade-in value, so when I got to the dealership, there was nothing to haggle over. They treated me like royalty too.

I wouldn't commit to a car sight-unseen. Wouldn't that be requisit with an ebay deal?

With autobytel.com, you're not committed until you get to the dealership to sign the papers - if you set it up that way. Just tell them "the car is mine & I'll be there tomorrow - & give me $100 off for my travel expenses please." You can buy & have it trucked to you. I wouldn't.

What are you guys the freakn **** forum police? Haven't quite outgrown the school yard mentality yet?

Prove it!? Reply back!? Where did you go!? Thats BS!?

Sometimes this forum is a great source of information and somethimes it just makes me want to puke.

You guys need to chill out and quit being so GD defensive about your precious cars. They are automobiles people - and in 15-20 years you wont give a flying F about an RX-8.

What does forum mean "open discussion", not post and duck.

So we should believe everything in writing, much less written from such a reliable source as a forum post?

Instead of telling Schweizer to shut (TF) up, I'm (we are) asking for more information. Air it out. In our face. If that isn't "open discussion" I guess I don't know what is.

He made a totally unbelievable statement which goes against information from reliable sources (such as Mazda). You say we should just thank him & take it as truthful info.

You, wleonard, are the post dick here. Ya?

What? Seems to be working just fine. Are we off the original topic of your first post this morning so soon? Now we get to the fun stuff, right?

Dick = detective. Look it up (in a dickionary). In other words, you're going from thread to thread, investigating what others have written, then lay the hammer down on some unsuspecting person (or persons, as is the case in this thread) when you can twist what is being discussed into some distortion of the truth.

I used to have quite a large vocabulary, but I put it away in order to get in order for something very important. So, to get it back out and use any of it on you would totally not be worth it.
