i hate my 8, everytime i see it it makes me puke, and then i realize i hafta drive it i cower up in the corner and panick, and its super slow, my friends geo metro beat me off the line, and my other friends 93 camaro out handled it on the track, it doesnt start on cold days, and i LIVE IN SOCAL, and the service guys at the dealership know my lifes story, i tried to pull the lemon thing on them but they wont buy it and im stuck with it. I've tried to kill my self twice cuz my friends laughed at my 8 and now im getting some psychiatric support, prozac is helping alot. This car ruined my life, and as a human to another im begging you. PLEASE DONT BUY IT!

Let's see . . .
My 2005 doesn't leak anything, either in or out. Has only been to the dealer for oil changes, tire rotation, and re-flash. Brakes don't squeal. Performance issue as the car has aged? Yeah, it has gotten slightly quicker. I keep the RPM's up, try to hit redline at least once every time I drive the car. Fuel consumption? OK for a performance car, it varies depending on where and how I drive. Oil consumption? I add a half-quart about every 1,000 miles. So when that quart is gone that means 3,000 miles and time for an oil change. Other maintenance? The rubber seal around the driver's door popped off of one of its retaining clips; I had to pop it back on.

I bought a phantom blue 07 with a 12/06 build date back in January. It is ******* stellar in all departments. By far the most fun, most unique car I have owned. The short list of which are, s14 240sx, z32 and z33, 2000 Si, Integra Type R. Really makes me want a mint FD.

1) VERY VERY RARE
2) VERY VERY GOOD LOOKING
3) VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY FASTTT!
and the rx-8 can't be as fast as rx-7
can't be classy like those old Mercedes
the looks are good, but for crying out loud, in 5years theres bound to be something better

It leaks? Leaks what?
Do yourself a favor. Drive the thing first, do some reading on this site and then decide if its the car for you.
And guys...

You buy Sport Cars out of passion not logic. Except for the 8.
You buy Sport Cars out of passion not logic. Except for the 8. The RX--8 gets such raving reviews winning all or most of the comparisons and driveabilty test. New buyers are expecting a near perfect car, but like most inovation or new projects there will be learning and improvement curves/updates.
Go to another sport car forum you will hear Porsche owners complaining about interior nosies, rattels, tire wear and brake wear. But most take it like a missed punch the chin they ignore this as part of the what happens in a Sports Car changing tires every 8-10k miles and brakes every 3k miles. Front end work and other mishaps that come from drivig hard and fast.
The Mita MX-5 has spoiled Mazda drivers you aren't going to get Miat reliability out of a Mita if you drive it like S2000 or RX-8. When you go repelling you pay dearlly for Blue line rope its the only thing between you and a plumment The Same with a Sport Car.
The high reveing 9k rpm hot Rx-8 is not the smooth running fun loving Mx-5 that will last forever and be pasted on to your grand daughter or son.
