Broken Engine.. need Help on Recall

I had nooo idea where to put this Thread, but all of a sudden my 04 RX-8 will not start, so my mom and I brought it to a friends auto tech and they said something about the engine. it's about $8,000 to repair it.

My moms question is, where can she find documents of RX-8s of all recalls and see if it can fit in there for we can get a new car or something.

The car has about 45k miles on it.

your engine is warrantied for 100,000 miles
Here's a bulletin for you: http://www.finishlineperformance.com...5-08-1883f.pdf

Has your car been serviced by the dealership these past few years?
Are you the original owner? If not, when did you purchase?
Have you been topping off the oil between oil changes?

What has your mechanic done to the engine? Is it still in the vehicle?

If the dealership has been servicing the vehicle, you should not have any issues with them trying to diagnose th car and possibly replacing the engine if in fact that is waht is wrong with it. The car could possibly just be flooded and some new spark plugs will fix it. Tough to tell with so little information provided.

Yeah no recall needed, if it's the engine then it's still under warranty. Just take it to a Mazda dealership, you shouldn't have to spend a dime.

It makes no difference where you bought it, any Mazda dealership will do the warranty work.

the only time I brought it to a dealership to Mazda was my first oil change for i can be in their record. After that never again. I've had the car for about a year and a half.

be prepared that the dealership might ask for proof of maintenance. Oil changes at standard intervals, etc.

Other then that, get your car towed to your nearby dealership and begin the process of trying to get the warranty work completed. (you're not getting a new car)

what were the compression figures? He has a compression tester? Did he check both rotors?

Read the bulletin I posted above.

Just take it to a dealership and have them check the engine out. If it's in need of replacement, you're covered.

sounds good Joe. Sorry to hear that your car is having issues, just want to make sure you go into the dealership as an informed consumer so they don't try and BS you.

depends on the modification. Simple intake, you're probably going to be okay. I've had my Racing Beat intake on there for almost 3 years and the dealership has never given me grief.

Anything other then that, you'll probably run into issues.
Even though the dealership techanically has to prove that your modification caused the failure, many dealerships will just refuse the work.

No one will warranty an engine that is not OEM. That being said they have to prove the modification caused the problem. So intakes and exhaust are no big deal but if you supercharge or turbocharge the engine you are on your own.
