Brilliant mechanic I encountered

So I turn on my car the other day, and my CEL was on. I went to a shop my friend works at, and his boss used the scanner to find out why it came on(Low pressure or something, apparently I didn't tighten up my fuel tank cap enough), and he cleared it.

At this point, he tries to turn on the car with WOT multiple times. Poor engine wouldn't start up. I am assuming he thought it was flooded. Told him to take his foot off the gas and then start it up, and it sure did. Took me a few minutes to realize what he was doing since I was shocked it was even doing that because my engine has yet to fail to start up on me except a while ago when I had old coils and whatnot.

Lesson learned, don't let people do dumb things

To be fair the mechanic, most cars don't have that feature.

Whether it has the feature or not, why would he do it? Electronic fuel injected cars do a pretty good job of starting without touching the accelerator pedal, loose gas cap or not. They tend to hold the idle air controller wide open during cranking anyway so it's already like it's at part throttle.
