breaking in my rx-8
Just got my car today, and it only has 40 miles on it.
I was wondrin how many miles until it is broken in.
I've been hearing all sorts of different things
the dealer said 3,000
(I don't know if I have that patience)
my friends say 2,000
(they're car guys)
and a mechanic I know says 1,000 should be enough
I was wondering if the rx-8 was different from other cars and should be broken in differently.
How exactly is the best way to break a car in. This is my first time on stick so I'm not entirely sure what to do.,

The manual says 600 miles,
And my dealer said no special treatment is necessary at all. (yes, they do repair $$$ too).
I redlined it in the first week a few times and took it to 100+ mph before 500 miles. Gently of course :-)

The book says 600 miles, keep RPM below 6K and vary engine speed as much as possible.
I have 2400 miles on the odometer and can tell you that the engine really opens up after 2K miles.
Enjoy your new car, this is one great sports car, congrats.
