Break-in and Milage

This is my .02 so don't get all pissy and cry please
I have heard the break-in is roughly 2000 miles, not 600.... while in break-in period you should be driving semi-aggressive, don't redline or stoplight race or that crap, but take it to 6-7k rpms, play with it, get your shifting down pat, have a little fun. I'm not saying beat the **** out of it but you gotta let the engine breath, let it live a little... I've always been told if you treat a new engine like those parents that never let their kid go outside or play with the neighbor kids to not get sick or whatever, when they do get out when their older they get sick all the time. Take this however you want, like I said just my .02

Man.

2000 miles jesus! Man my car salesman told me don't listen to anything else the break-in period is about 500 miles. I said yea i'll take it easy to about 1000 then. He then told me that it's fine to play with it at 500 just don't redline it ALL the time...damn i'm only at 490 miles!!! that's so many to 2000.

I'd go with a 1000 to be on the safe side.

me too. i have been driving it as i like since 650 but only a few redlines. even so i feel guilty. ill get over it.
i do generally trust owners manuals as they are quite comprehensive these days. i call them warning books because they have more warnings then info.
