Worst car-related experience of my life. I will never buy another Mazda, even though I love these cars...
IF mazda doesnt do anything about it, you might not have to pay $450 for a replacement.

First Question: How long is the crack? Some states will consider any crack up to 12" long "repairable" and a local windshield repair company could fix it for a 1/4 of the price of a replacement

Second Question: Do you have comprehensive coverage? If so, 99.9% of the time your insurance company will pay 50-60 dollars towards the repair (Insurance companies hate paying for replacements and they would rather pay for repair) so you only pay maybe 15-20 out of your pocket. I know its still $15-$20, but its a hell of a deal if nobody is willing to take care of that crack and it beats $450.

Another thing to consider that not everyone is aware of is that in some states insurance companies are required to pay 100% for windshield repairs/replacements. Florida is one of those states.

Thanks for the tip! I did call my insurance (Progressive) but unfortunately only glass repairs are covered in Indiana, not full replacement.

On a good note, I called Mazda USA and was pleasant and calm. The representative called the district service manager and within minutes I was told to be getting a new windshield, and that the dealer would call me within the hour. True to their word, I received a call that a windshield is on order and will be installed next week.

Hopefully this is the end of the experience...

Pic below of the windshield when I picked it up - wouldn't you be pissed??

my tranny appears to hard to get in 1st when the car is doing more than 10mph, I think its a safety thing. usually when the car is moving, I just get into 2nd and feather the clutch

That's normal, it's a mechanism to keep you from damaging 1st.. you really shouldn't be shifting back into 1st unless you're going slower than 5mph, or if you've come to a complete stop..

1. hard to push in 1st gear when come to complete stop... sometime
2. 3rd and 5th gear grinding when shift it above 5k rpm ....most of time...

dealer said: what is the pts to shift @ 5k rpm into 5th gear, you are crazy, the car run 100mph by then

me : -___- grrr.... no...sir... its just 60s 70s only.. there still 5k rmp availiable before to do the shifting ..then silent......

OP, sounds like the dogteeth or their receptors are worn.
Used car? If so, perhaps previous owner liked to force gears in.

Welcome to a manual gearbox.

Every single manual car I've driven has done this for 1st, that's because you're only supposed to use 1st for starting from a complete stop.
