Pretty good deal - could be a great deal depending on the year.

Welcome to the fun.

Hey, welcome to the forums. I too just purchased an '07 Galaxy Gray Grand Touring 6MT with a black interior.

What exactly does the Autolock feature do, and how is it accessed?

You must have the Advanced Keyless Entry (standard on GT). When Autolock is ON the doors will automatically lock after you exit the car.

Note: You have to close the door BEFORE you walk out of range of the receiver in the door (or where ever it is) for the doors to lock. When you close the doors and are in range, a beep will sound. Then as you walk away (and I presume when you walk out of range) it beeps again and flashes the indicator lights.

It is OFF by default. You have to request the dealer turns this on, you can't do it yourself. If you are buying an RX8 make sure you ask them to turn it on before you drive away. They will probably want to charge you to turn it on if you come back and ask for it later.

Just realized you already bought it. I think it's around $30 - $50 to turn it on. However, guess the dealer may turn it on for free since you just picked up the car. The sales people at my dealer didn't even know about the feature! They were all going to get it activated on their Mazda vehicles.

Autolock feature can be quite finicky. Do a search. there are times it "unlocks" itself for no apparent reason. Or sometimes it beeps but doesn't quite lock itself. Spooky stuff.

So far the only strange artifact I've noticed with Autolock is if I walk away from the car too quickly it doesn't lock. It does make me nervous though. I wish it honked the horn so it was more obvious that it was locked. The beeps it emits are a little too quiet.

I have found the Advanced Keyless Entry is a bit strange. Sometimes it takes a few attempts to get the trunk lid to pop when I press the hidden rubber button. I'm wondering if the button on my car is faulty. Also, pressing the small rubber button on the drivers door handle twice to open the passenger door seems a bit unpredictable, although I can't rule out user-error yet.

just press the trunk button and hold for a second, its done it on mine since the day i got it, then the trunk pops open and it sounds like i hit the button twice, but its the only way to open it.
whenever i have someone with me and they ask me to open the trunk to put something in and i do that they're like"okay okay geez"
