My great debate..

Guy I know wants to trade me a super clean 2000 Audi S4 + a little cash for my RX8 and im massively tempted.

Mmm lets discuss going from 1 car that is ultra diffcult to tune to one that can make 100hp gains at the wheels with a 450$ dollar ECU reflash.

Subject myself to ridiculous straight line speed and german prowess ( and well repair costs for that matter) or stay with japanese semi-sports car

The RX-8 is a sports car. Get the Audi S4 and budget 1000s for maintenance.

How much do you value handling? The older S4 isn't bad for day to day type stuff but you'll certainly notice the S4's shortcomings. Also and older S4 will probably cost you more in the long run compared the the RX-8. Personally, I wouldn't do it, and this is coming from someone that rather likes AWD turbo cars. Then again I already have a car that makes big gains with small mods, but I need handling to go along with it and could care less about a nice interior.

Eh I got a Lotus Elise if I want handling.

Consider doing the work myself I could have a 500 hp awd car for about the price of a installed pettit supercharger and associated/needed mods.

S4 trade????

Just remember..The S4 is going to be really nice...more luxurious , more comfortable, 4 wheel traction with Quattro, easily modded and a beast...but an 8 year old Audi ? NO WAY JOSE ! Just one rotor or Cat...you'll be wishin' for your RX8 again. I had an A4, 2005...Loved it...Not as much as my 2000 TT and not nearly as much as my '05
RX 8. S4 is not a car to have without a major extended warranty....It's also not as unique as your 8....but i must say , I am 61 and it made me feel more grown up...as opposed to my 8 which makes me forget that i'm a BOOMER at all. AND i'd venture a guess that the MPG is not that much better on the S4 than your 8. Give me the Japanese made sports car and keep your German speedy car.. Ya can't drive that fast anyway where i live. I have more fun getting to 60 than driving 70. In fact if I had to choose which car looks cooler at 45 mph i'd say the RX 8. I don't think the S4 is a great deal to own...Keep the 8...trade or sell it later and if you want an S4...LEASE it for 2 or 3 years...Audi always has some great lease program every year....If you aren't bored with it...keep it. I got bored as all get out driving the A4...It wouldn't have made any difference if it was faster and used more gas and tires.
