Question Booster Seat Help

Calling all RX-8 parents of young kids ....

My daughter has now grown enough so that she can no longer use her booster seat's in-built 5 point harness. So we must switch her to using the standard RX-8 lap/shoulder belt with the booster seat. The problem I have is, that due to the RX-8 rear center console, it is very hard for her to get the down between the booster seat and the console to plug the standard seat belt into the fixed connector.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Has anyone found a short extension that would raise the fixed seat belt connector above the base of the booster seat? Or has someone found a different solution?

She is small for her age (8 years old and 47") which is why we have been able to use the car seat harness until now. She is still too small to just sit in the seat. The booster is more for practicality (raises her bout 4 inches) but is also required legally in VA.

We also have a pure booster seat (bottom only) but it still has arm rests which still makes it hard to get down between the seat and the console to the buckle the seat belt.

I use a booster on each side for my kids (they're close in age, weight and height).

The booster I use is a base only and has like handles shaped into the moulding on each side. They come with a strap that cinches down the seat belt to the correct shoulder height.

It can take a bit of fiddling to get the seatbelt into the fixed clasp but I see that as a safety feature really - less chance that one of my kids will unbuckle the seatbelt either accidentally or intentionally.

The technique I've developed in to hold the belt buckle between thumb and foerfinger and use your other fingers to force the clasp upright and steady while you push down. Hard to explain but with a bit of practice it's easy.

And of course towel down goes without saying unless you like scratched or worn leather.
