Better with age?
Just about every car on the road is like that if broken in properly.
Edit: Though piston engines tend to hit a point in their life where performance slowly decreases whereas rotaries tend to run strong until they go boom.

Yes they do, but you won't notice it if you are the main driver. Since it will be so gradual you won't really feel anything. But you can be comforted by knowing that fact that it does I guess.

Oh...you may notice that fact that the performance doesn't decrease though. That's always a good one.

Gas seems to make big difference - Just got back from a long haul to Frico - Used only one tank each way which was a real relief, and did not need to top off oil! This car is acting more and more like a regular old gas buggy only with power on demand - still haven't found it's limits. Our 8 likes Shell and Chevron, lugs down with 76, but gets better, and the cheap stuff stuff on base made it really really slow. Chevron seemed to clean that up!
Part of the improvement may be an aquired restraint when tempted to outrun other cars, and a kind of zen that develops where you don't push the gas as much and kind of let it back up and run at about 2 when you have reached the desired speed.

Ive been wondering about this too. Sometimes I feel like my car has gotten slower overtime. Then I take a ride in someone elses car and go back to mine and she is as good as new. Sometimes you just get used to driving the car that you get used to how fast it normally drives.
I'll agree with that. On Friday I was thinking my car seemed slow and sluggish, and was going to blame it on the air conditioner. Well, Saturday I took my mom's rental car (Kia Spectra) to get something for the dinner we were making while the polish dried on my car and that car felt so terrible!!! I drove Bella today and she felt better than ever (even with the air conditioner on)!!!! Same thing happens if I drive my mom's Tribute. It's a nice vehicle but it just doesn't feel anywhere near the same in terms of handling and power.
Why don't you ask Kieth? Or KWESCOTT https://www.rx8club.com/members/kwescott-9004/

Even better, I get to distinguish the difference betwee piston engine and rotary....Even dough it is not the fastest car out there, it feels lilke it has a turbine engine!!!
Extremely smooth powerband. And those high revs give me chills...!!
