better or = to rx8?
The only car I would consider right now that is somewhat comparable in price to an 8 is something like a 2001 e46 M3 like someone else said. Beautiful car and a early year can be had for under 20k.
You drove an AP1 (of which I was lucky enough to own and dumb enough to trade in after 2 years). If you get an AP2 the traction control takes away pretty much all of that tail happiness.

I also had a s2k before my 8 and loved it. The only thing you had to be cautious of was if you enter a turn hard below v-tech and hit it mid turn your back end wants to come out on you.
