Basic Rotary Care?

Could somebody who has an acceptional knowledge of the Mazda RX-8 rotary engine please tell me basic steps on how to keep your RX-8's engine running properly and how you are less likely to encounter problems by following basic steps.

As I am thinking of buying an RX-8 but am doing my research and would like to learn more about the rotary engine, so when I get an RX-8 I have no problems and am able to take the steps to maintain it

A reply would be most appreciated

Look for the search engine at the top of the site, that's your new best friend.

Read the stuff in the FAQ forum...the link to that sub-forum is just above the list of posts.

Go look inside the technical subforums and start reading the stickies threads up top. Search does not always work btw I been at this a long time and I still can't find things with search sometimes. They chase off noobs too fast

Red line often, after proper warm up.

Thats the basics.

Obviously you are doing your research real well Sherlock. This information probably can't be found on the first page or hasn't been covered in a million of other threads that would easily popped up in a search.

Nor in the list of similar threads that appears at the bottom of this one.

Most overlooked feature of this forum. When we tell a newbie with a familiar question to search, we really should point that feature out. It usually has threads that cover exactly what they're looking for.

So If I were to buy a 2010 Mazda RX-8 tomorrow, If I check the oil regulary, change it every 3000 miles, redline it couple times a week, and let it warm up always before driving..along with regular servicing and matainance.

Will the car drive like a dream and give me NO problems??

This is all I want to know, and for anyone to add anything else I need to do to have no troubles at all.

Could someone who has owned an RX-8 for a considerable amount of time. i.e. 4 years or more please answer.

Thank You

First, wow, theres some rude ******* people posting here. Someone already told him to search/read stickies. Why dogpile on him? Makes you feel superior? He doesnt know what a sticky is, so he's obviously new to forums. Either help the guy out or move on to another thread.

Love Rx8

I have an 04 with 68K on it. Ive been meticulous with the maintenance and have have almost no problems.

I had a coil go out at 45K (pretty good for stock coils), and my cat converter is dead, however the cat is covered until Federal Emissions warranty to 8/80.

Really just depends on the car if youll have "no problems". Theres always going to be some lemons rolling of the assembly line.

Keep up with you maintenance and maintain it well and you should have no problems.

And yet you were so rude as to not answer his question about stickies.

But the question he finally asked, and which you answered, is a pretty good one. Having just reached my fourth anniversary today, I'm also qualified to answer it.

In four years, 35000 miles, the only actual problem I've had was hitting a pothole, which resulted in replacing a wheel and needing an alignment. Probably not the car's fault. Trivial issues are the clutch pedal squeaking (but not when at the dealer), and the console lid sliding forward (doesn't bother me, and I wouldn't have noticed if not for posts here).

The car is a dream to drive every day.

There's no way to ensure you'll have zero problems with any car. If you're on the edge financially, a sports car is rarely a good idea.

Perhaps. There are some threads on that. They should turn up in a search.

no car is perfect with NO problems.
some has more some has less.
considering RX8, you only need to worry about engine is pretty a small problem comparing to some cars have strong engines but many small electrical problems.

hay guys here to ask the same question that 6 threads on the first page already asked

Hint:
If you search you will find the answers that you seek.

Also, S2 might be different, but I do 30k/30k for plugs and coils. And that's probably optimistic.
